Job Description

Network Engineer

Person would be responsible for providing technical leadership for network engineering projects of varying complexity which includes performing moderate to complex engineering, design, configuration, installation, maintenance, and upgrades of the global data network and VoIP infrastructure. These infrastructures consist of routers, switches, firewalls, IPS/IDS, wireless access points, Call Manager 4.x / 7.x, Call Manager Express, SRST, Unity and Unit Connections. Also provides level 2 / 3 technical support to various departments and users with regard to the data network and VoIP infrastructure, Collaborates with team members locally or virtually in remote states or countries.

Understanding of the OSI model.
Ability to complete assignments with minimal direction
Ability to mentor and provide technical leadership to associate and mid-level network engineers
Understanding of network security concepts
Understanding of industry best practices for deployment and configuration of various network technologies
Proven strong technical troubleshooting abilities
Proven ability to develop, design, and deploy solutions for moderate to complex network challenges
Understanding of VoIP technologies that includes Ciscos Unified Communications products
Strong customer service and communication skills (verbal and written)
Ability to support users and network equipment in person and with remote administration tools
Available off-hours periodically to support high impact projects and support international offices
Must have the ability to multitask and work well independently
Ability to develop technical documentation
Understanding of network security, vulnerabilities, and countermeasures
Ability and desire to learn new skills quickly.
Effectively communicate issues and resolutions to all levels of the organization
Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive customer and internal information.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Performs moderate to complex engineering, implementation, and maintenance tasks on the network under minimal supervision
Provides technically leadership to the global network engineering team.
Responsible for the on-going assessment and upgrade of the global network.
Proactively monitors the health of the global network by collecting and analyzing data network statistics such as information from Cisco IDS/IPS systems, Netflow, WhatsUp Gold, and Syslog.
Researches, evaluates, and recommends hardware / software to improve network performance, reliability, redundancy, and resiliency.
Troubleshoots network problems
Serves as a liaison with vendors and other third party providers.
Develops relationships with vendors and investigates sources of equipment and services.
Reviews contracts and maintains close contact with existing vendors of equipment and services.
Coordinates with vendors on the installation of hardware such as routers, bridges and switches.
May evaluate vendor cost and quality of equipment and services
Remains informed of new developments and trends; makes recommendations to management on desirable additions and developments.
Work with team to perform functions in support of network security and IT acceptable use policies; ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley requirements.
Special projects and duties as assigned
Manages network equipment in a global environment, ensuring maximum uptime
Troubleshoots problems with the global voice and data networks
Maintains a broad knowledge of networking
Monitor system logs and activity of all network and security equipment
Responds to system failure alerts.
Attend and actively participate in meetings with the business, applications, operations & infrastructure
