Job Description JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Alcatel-Lucent IP Division’s Network and Service Management (NSM) team creates software which provides superior management of our IP, MPLS and VPN solutions. Our network management product portfolio is more than superior. It is the best.

The 5620 Service Aware Manager (SAM) provides management of the IPD portfolio; including but not limited to the 7750 Service Router (SR), 7450 Ethernet Service Switch (ESS), 7250 Service Access Switch (SAS), 7710 Service Router (SR) and 7705 Service Aggregation Router (SAR). A key differentiator in the IPD portfolio, the 5620 SAM provides the full set of FCAPS functionality to over 200 customers around the world.

Members of our team routinely work with a wide variety of telecommunication technologies such as IP, MPLS, Ethernet, L2/L3 MPLS-based VPN services, routing, triple-play services, control plane assurance, OAM diagnostics, and mobile aggregation. Technologies embedded and related to the product include Java, EJB, JMS, JBoss, Oracle, XML (including an automated test framework), Solaris, Linux, Windows and TCL/Expect.
The 5620 SAM product is experiencing a period of exceptional growth and is looking to build new design and test teams in Bangalore. Our customer base is rapidly expanding, revenues are growing and the number of different network devices managed by SAM is increasing.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Members of the 5620 SAM Design team are responsible for the development of features and solutions from Feature Specifications to the delivery of software to the Quality Assurance team. Input to SAM feature development is derived from element specifications (7750, 7450, etc) or from requirements specifications developed by the SAM Product Management team. Designers interact with product managers, QA resources, support teams and technical resources within the router teams. We primarily use agile techniques for development. During test cycles, defects identified by the QA team are generally given to the designers responsible for the feature or functional area of the product for resolution.

These positions require highly motivated and creative individuals. Working in IPD’s Network Management Department as a member of the SAM Development team involves the following skills:-

Bachelor/Masters degree in computer science/engineering.
2-8 years experience in software development and design
Excellent Communication skills
Understanding of network management concepts and basic protocols (SNMP, CLI)
Object Oriented Design and Analysis (Preferable)
Java programming language; including JMS and EJB over RMI (Mandatory & Expert level)
JBoss Application Server Environment
XML OSS development
IP and routing protocols (OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, RIP) (Mandatory)
Quality of Service (QoS)
MPLS (RSVP, LDP)
IP VPN, VLAN, VLL/VPLS, BRAS
Platforms (Solaris, Windows, Linux)
Oracle Database
